The new revision of IEC 60115-4 covers power resistors with a dissipation in the range 1 W up to 1000 W, and with a hot spot temperature in excess of 200 °C. It deals with film resistors and wirewound resistors side by side, and thereby complements the range of low-power film resistors covered by the IEC 60115-2. It is based on the new 5th edition of the generic specification IEC 60115‑1, which has matured in a parallel project. The first CD will be circulated in spring 2019, and publication of this standard’s new revision is expected in 2020.
